I hated how punishing it is to adopt an adult/elder pet who have learned some behaviors or commands, because in my mind, they're the ones most in need of adoption!
This mod slightly increases the base price of pets from $399 to $450 for cats and $500 for dogs. I made cats slightly cheaper because you have to buy more stuff for them making them more expensive overall when they're usually considered lower maintenance than dogs so figured this was a fair trade off.
It also significantly reduces the additional costs for learned behaviors and commands. I never put my pets in careers because I find it cruel and my sims never seem to roll wants for pet jobs anyway, so the commands are completely useless to me especially since I play with the control pet cheats on at all times. FYI, by default in the game, cats take 25% longer to train than dogs which is why the cost is increased more for cats.
Reduces the max cost of a learned command for a dog from $400 to $50 and the max cost of a learned command for a cat from $460 to $75.
Reduces the max cost of a learned behavior for a dog from $350 to $100 and the max cost of a learned behavior for a cat from $390 to $125.
This means, you will find it a little bit more expensive to buy a pet from the pet displays or to adopt an untrained pet which are usually puppies & kittens but much cheaper than before to adopt pets with some training which are usually adults & elders.
